About Sonia M. Tanksley, Esq.

Sonia enjoys using her legal mind to help people navigate the many changes that life invites and she understands that simply looking at the law on its face doesn't always tell the whole story. Given this understanding, she often identifies unique opportunities to help her clients reach creative solutions.

Sometimes these solutions involve drafting just the right clause in a business transaction agreement, which allows her clients to achieve their goal; helping a person envision their legacy, then drafting a will or trust that makes their vision more concrete; or effectively litigating a matter to give her clients the best chance at a favorable outcome, whether it's a decision from the Court or a satisfactory settlement.

For Sonia, her favorite solutions are the ones that may appear far away at first, and once thoroughly analyzed are quite attainable. She attributes this resourcefulness to her diverse talents and interests that expand beyond the law. She plays piano and she's an avid runner. Her favorite place in the world is anywhere near the sea.

Sonia graduated from Fordham University with a degree in economics and went on to receive her Juris Doctorate from the same institution. After graduating, Sonia spent eight years practicing in both the private and public sectors. In 2000, she started her law firm, where she continues helping people use the law to improve their lives.

Sonia's career includes a commitment to community service. In addition to her law practice, she has worked in voluntary capacities, serving as a member of the board of directors at the Mt. Kisco Childcare Center, a non-profit entity offering early-education in a diverse environment; and the Abundant Living Foundation, which focuses on pre-diabeties education and prevention in underserved communities.

Her clients most often think of her as a steady and supportive guide as they navigate the challenges, adventures, and joys of life.
